On November 14th…
The snow has started falling, but then it turned to fog, then snow again, then rain.
It seems like the weather this month hasn’t quite made up it’s mind but spirits are still high! Our students travel through the difficult weather and still manage to work hard to complete their tasks. The year is almost over but we can’t stop trying to improve.
Thanks to all the students that continue to work hard to better themselves, and attain their goals, whatever those goals may be!
It’s also the month of our 40th year anniversary! Can you believe it? 40 years of service and we still don’t stop! 40 years ago, in 1983 Bev Ingles started the literacy program in Dryden so that immigrants as well as locals struggling with literacy could have a more fulfilling life and the basic abilities required to maintain a decent standard of living. Below is the exerpt from the local newspaper at the time. Check it out!
On July 10th…
We’ve been so busy lately!
Below are some photos of Daniel, Mandy, and George tending to the community garden, as well as some photos of Daniels RC airplane, which he graciously offered up to the Museum for their exhibit.
Our community garden is thriving, and the museum exhibit was very interesting! So many artists in town! Definitely go check it out if you have the time!
On May 9th…
The First Steps Program enjoys a graduation party as well as some well-earned celebration!
All of our students deserve a good break for their hard work! Many weeks of training, hard work, and laughs led up to this day.
Congratulations students, you earned it!
On February 8th…
We invited the Northwest Employment Works, Contact North, and Community Living Dryden-Sioux Lookout in to run the First Steps Program with us! Focused on providing gentle exposure to the labor market, we completed several activities that provided students with a safe space to explore the difficulties they may encounter in the workplace!
